Feed the Repair: Why What You Eat Matters After Regenerative Therapy

Treatments like PRP, bone marrow concentrate, and adipose-based therapies work by kick-starting your body's own repair process. That process begins with a short, controlled burst of inflammation, which is the signal that calls healing cells to the injured tissue. That early response is useful. The problem is chronic, low-grade inflammation, the kind driven by poor diet, excess sugar, and highly processed foods. It can create a background “noise” that works against the healing environment we're trying to build.

Diet is one of the easiest ways to lower that noise. In the weeks after your procedure, focus on:

  • Colorful produce: berries, leafy greens, and cruciferous vegetables supply antioxidants and polyphenols.
  • Omega-3 fats: salmon, sardines, walnuts, and flaxseed.
  • Quality protein: tendon, cartilage, and ligament repair requires adequate amino acids.
  • Olive oil, nuts, and legumes: the core of a Mediterranean-style pattern.

Limit refined sugars, fried foods, processed meats, and alcohol, all of which are linked to higher systemic inflammation.

One important note: avoid anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen or naproxen unless we've cleared them. These drugs can blunt the very response your treatment depends on. A healthy diet calms chronic inflammation without shutting down the repair signal.

Regenerative medicine gives your body the tools. Good nutrition helps it use them.
