Am I a Candidate?
Honest guidance starts before you ever book a visit. Because Dr. Ohlson is a surgeon first, he'll tell you plainly whether regenerative treatment is right for you—or whether it isn't. Not every joint, and not every patient, is a good fit. Here's how to know where you stand.
You may be a good candidate if you:
- Want to stay active—golf, tennis, travel, grandkids, the gym—and pain is getting in the way.
- Have shoulder, knee, hip, or foot/ankle pain from wear, overuse, or an old injury.
- Would rather try every reasonable option before considering surgery.
- Have tried rest, therapy, or medication with limited relief.
- Are looking for a treatment plan built around your goals, not just your scan.
Regenerative treatment may not be the right fit if:
- Imaging shows advanced joint damage where surgery offers a clearly better long-term outcome.
- There's an active infection or certain other medical conditions.
- You're looking for a permanent fix rather than a path to reduced pain and better function.
- If that's the case, Dr. Ohlson will tell you directly and walk you through what your options actually are—surgical or not.
The only way to know for sure is a consultation. Dr. Ohlson will review your history, exam, and imaging in person and give you a straight answer.
